August 20th, 2008, ISH opened the doors once again to welcome our new and returning students. We are off to a great school year with loads of exciting and new adventures.
IS 5 will be heading off to camp in the spring, after completing their huge exhibition in April. The students will get to decide the subject of their exhibition, so stay tuned to find out what it is they choose.
IS 4 will be heading off to Viking camp. Their class is already well on their way to raising funds for the trip by planning on selling baked goods and coffee at the upcoming academic evenings. Way to plan ahead grade 4!
IS 3 is planning to observe National Peace day in September. They will be studying about Peace Keepers and plan to look at famous people in history who have played a large role in helping keep peace.
IS PK - IS 2 are settling into school and getting into the routines. Everyone is very excited and they are looking forward to learning loads. Stay tuned to find out what exciting things they will be up to once the school year is under way.

UN Day
We held our annual UN theme day on October 24th. The central idea around the day was "Everyone has to work together to solve problems." In the morning, all students in IS PK - IS 5 worked together as groups to solve challenges and teach each other activities. In the afternoon, IS 2- IS 5 students were split into their house groups. They went to various stations where they had to solve a problem as a group in order to get a clue to tell them what station to go to next.
The day ended with a presentation from the Back Pack Project. This presentation is the kickoff to our school service project of collecting back packs and filling them with everyday items that children need to go to school. The back packs will be collected and filled, and will eventually be sent to Malawi. You can find out more about this project and how you can help by clicking on the following web site: http://www.sircharity.org/Schools.html

Loads of talent!
ISH Primary held the first talent show of the school year on Thursday, October 11th. Musical intruments were played and dancing was performed. We have a wide range of talent at ISH. Those involved did a great job and we were all very impressed. Special thanks to the students who took place in the show and to Mr. Kincaid for organizing it.

The Primary School at ISH
We have just held our first sports day of the school year on Friday, September 21st. We had a fabulous time, although we all got a bit muddy. Laundry was definitely being done in many households on Friday night.
The day started out with a cheer competition set up by our student council. Each class created a unique cheer and strutted their stuff during the competition. While all the classes were excellent and the judging was difficult, IS K came out the winners - not only due to their funny cheer, but also because of their cuteness. :)
The rest of the day continued with activities in the morning for IS PK - IS 2, doing fun races such as bobbing for balls in water and hopping in a sack. IS 3 - IS 5 had a cross country race in the morning and a football tournament in the afternoon. All of the teams did a super job and everyone had loads of fun!
